In This Scene: Caitlin Mattisson adds some bling to her soft purples with this gold shark's tooth necklace. The necklace is a real shark's tooth that was dipped in gold and purchased at Bell Jar in the Mission.

In This Scene: Caitlin Mattisson at the How Weird Street Faire. Being Mother's day, Mattisson decided to wear a shawl she snagged from her mom. I love how she contrasted her pretty purples and soft fabrics with coarsely textured tights and black leather boots.

In This Scene: Kristian Dimitrov in a suede and leather pair of Timberland boots. I'm not usually too keen on chukkas, but these are so great.

In This Scene: Kristian Dimitrov, out enjoying the How Weird Street Faire. This outfit has a nice simplicity to it and yet has elements that are hip, preppy and sporty. Dimitrov zipped his collar and then rolled it over like a turtleneck--subtle, but a nice look here.

In This Scene: Ian Hannula (center), co-founder of Nice Collective, looking ruggedly handsome at the Academy of Art Spring Fashion Show. I like when designers reflect their designs in their personal style. The grungy-chic Hannula, in his dirty boots and long hair, looks like the poster boy for Nice Collective. The blazer, even worn with an unfolded lapel, brings a chicness to this outfit.

In This Scene: Everyone loves sexy black heels. It's rare that I say this, but I like all of these shoes. I tend to be picky with shoes, and especially with black because it's easy, but these are all quite nice.

In This Scene: In the audience at the Academy of Art Spring Show. There's something lovely and romantic about a well comprised, nude monochromatic outfit. This poncho, creates such clean lines for this modern-vintage look. Another interesting detail are his pant hems--I don't know if they are a bubble hem or just tucked under, but they work well here.

In This Scene: The student designers take the runway at the Academy of Art Spring Fashion Show. This is how you wear parachute pants. I'm typically not a big fan, but when tricky pieces of clothing are well balanced and fit correctly, they can look so amazing.

In This Scene: Elisa Palomino, VP of Design at Diane von Furstenberg and a recipient of the Academy of Art University's President's Award for Excellence in Design. Again, monochromatic neutrals can create such a romantic look. I love the flower in her hair paired with her ethereal silk shawl and bright red lipstick.

In This Scene: This is how you wear leopard print. This lovely little lady was wearing a beautiful hat, a leopard print boat-neck top and high waisted skinny black pants--a very classy outfit. The key to wearing hats is to get one that fits you correctly. Hats should never be too snug or small for your face. They should frame your head comfortably and thus make your head look smaller, which is more flattering. This is why large sunglasses can be quite flattering as well.

In This Scene: Outside after the Academy of Art Spring Fashion Show. I love the so simple yet so sharp look of this blue check shirt against these navy pants. I also really like how weathered his brown oxfords are--it adds character.

In This Scene: Bridget Campbell, designer for Ghetto Goldilocks, in a pair of over-the-knee boots from Free People. These boots are zip-ups, which is fairly rare these days, but adds a considerable amount of ease with getting boots on an off. I really like how they mixed fabrics and stitches to create this edgy look around the back zipper.
